President in Kashmir, Geelani calls for shutdown

President Pranab Mukherjee who arrived on a three-day visit in Kashmir will attend the 18th annual convocation of University of Kashmir today, where he will distribute awards and certificates. He will also review the Dal Lake Conservation Project and interact with a group of intellectuals. It is Mukherjee's first visit to strife-torn Kashmir as Indian President after assuming his office. Sharp shooters have been posted around the Kashmir University campus ahead of the President's visit to deliver the 18th convocation address. Authorities in Srinagar have asked all the resident scholars to vacate the various hostels as a security measure.
