Rail Budget: No hike in fares

For the third successive year, the Railway Budget for 2011-12 spared the passengers of any increase in fares and proposed no hike in freight rates, as Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee presented her populist Rail Budget in the Lok Sabha today. The Minister also announced the set up of Central Organisation for Project Implementation to ensure completion of rail projects. Mamata also extended concession for physically challenged persons.
