Red chilli growers in Gujarat are optimistic about a good business season ahead for Indian chillies this year. India is the largest producer of red chillies in the world and its cultivators are expecting to bag major export orders as China, the close competitor has experienced crop failure due to bad weather conditions. Reports say that the red-chilli export figures of India for 2007-08 stand at a record high of 190,000 tonnes, on strong global demand.
