After visiting the stampede victims in Jodhpur, Rahul came down to Kota and played the role of a poor labourer to perfection on the day that marks the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the apostle of peace and iconic freedom leader. Echoing the words of the Mahatma that India lives in its villages, the Congress leader said there was an urgent need to bridge the rich-poor divides. Rahul entered parliament after winning in Amethi, but has kept a low profile ever since.
