In a major relief to noted sociologist and political psychologist Ashis Nandy, the Supreme Court today issued a stay on his arrest, over his controversial anti-dalit remarks at the Jaipur Literature Festival. The court however criticized Nandy for his remarks, telling him to be careful in future but protected him for arrest by any state government. Nandy had earlier moved a petition seeking protection from arrest, and had requested the apex court to quash all the FIRs registered against him.
