Updated on Apr 04, 2013 08:31 pm IST
Refuting the allegations that SFI activist Sudipto Gupta was a victim of police brutality, the Kolkata police said on Thursday that he died due to a head injury inflicted by hitting a stationary object and then hitting a rough structure after that. During a press conference, the Kolkata Joint CP, Law and Order, Javid Shamim said that the final post-mortem report of Sudipto was yet to come out but the initial report showed that the wounds inflicted were ante-mortem in nature, i.e. inflicted before death and that they were not caused by lathis or rods. He also added that investigations were continuing and that their probe would be transparent.
