Silk industry trying to regain in foreign markets

The silk industry in Varanasi is trying to regain foothold in international markets as China imposes restrictions on the export of silk products. The majority of mulberry gardens in Sichuan province were destroyed in the recent earthquake. The after effects are such that China now is unable to meet its own domestic requirements. The prospect of capturing the foreign markets has brought smiles on Indian silk saree makers.
