South Africa's batsmen made the most of a reasonable target on offer to romp to a commanding 8-wicket win over Australia in the first Test in Cape Town. After a manic day 2 at Newlands, that saw 23 wickets fall across 3 sessions - only 1 wicket fell on day 3 as South Africa overhauled the target of 236 to win the Test. Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla guided the chase as Australia's pacers were unable to contain the flow of runs. Smith and Amla, both scored centuries to lead South Africa to an unassailable 1-nil lead in the 2-Test series.
