Sonia advocates 'carrot and stick' policy for Kashmir, Maoists

Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi on Sunday emphasised the need to curb militant activities in India from across the border.Speaking at the 83rd plenary session of the party in New Delhi, Gandhi, without naming Pakistan, said that the government is determined to crush any militant attack on Indian soil. At the same time, Gandhi said that the problems of people in Srinagar Valley of restive Kashmir should be resolved. Speaking on the internal threat that the Maoists pose, Gandhi said that the problems of tribal people should be solved by dealing with land issues.
