Swami Agnivesh attacked in Dantewada

An irate mob manhandled and abused Social Activist Swami Agnivesh in Dantewada district on Saturday. Local villagers, Salwa Judum activists and Special Police officers pelted eggs, stones at the convoy of Agnivesh and raised slogans against his pro-Maoist stance, questioning his silence when the Maoists attacked security men and civilians. The agitators pushed him around and attacked reporters who were accompanying him. They destroyed reporters cameras and mobile phones. However, Agnivesh did not blame the villagers for the incident as they too had been victims of violence adding that the protest seemed to him a 'stage-managed'.
