Scores lie injured in hospitals in West Bengal state on Saturday even as the Communist government shelved plans to build an industrial hub on farmland, three days after bloody clashes between police and villagers killed 14 people. Senior leaders of main central opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) visited the injured and those affected by the drive to acquire land for the project that was to be undertaken jointly with Indonesia's conglomerate, the Salim Group.
