Thermal power plants threaten Vidarbha: Greenpeace

Vidarbha, infamous for farmer suicides and a seemingly endless agrarian crisis, maybe facing a new threat. As many as 71 thermal power plants are in various stages of approval in Vidarbha since December 2010. Many of these power plants will be owned by the private companies and all are seeking allocation for fresh water. This is a crisis which will ruin Vidarbha, say activists.
