University embarrassed by Anand citizenship row: H’bad University

The University of Hyderabad has expressed its embarrassment over the clearance row over the proposal to confer an honorary doctorate on world chess champion, Vishwanathan Anand. While interacting with mediapersons on Tuesday, organisers of the International Congress of Mathematicians said that they were saddened by the incident that arose because of bureaucratic delays, in which the union Human Resource Development Ministry postponed giving clearance to the university to award the degree to Anand.
