Varanasi mail traced to Mumbai, PC says states were alerted

Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil confirmed on Wednesday that the email received by the media houses soon after the blast in Varanasi, by the extremist outfit,Indian Mujahideen, claiming responsibility for the incident,was sent from an area near Mumbai. Patil's disclosure confirms the initial suspicions of Indian security officials investigating the case. Certain sections of the media also reported that the police had detained two suspects from Manasaravor area in Navi Mumbai in connection with the emails. However, discarding these reports, Patil said that investigations were on and the guilty would be brought to book.
