Updated on Jan 13, 2013 09:08 pm IST

Around 20 village heads in Jammu and Kashmir resigned today citing threat of life, in wake of recent militant attacks. The village heads from Sopore tendered their resignation saying they are scared for their lives and are living under constant fear. The village heads said that they want the civil society to know that they are not working for the government and are a separate body. The attacks on village council members again gathered steam as unidentified gunmen shot and injured a woman, who is also a member of the village council in Hardeshiva village of Sopore on Saturday evening.
