Efforts are being made to save the world's largest river island Majuli from erosion of its embankments, and continuous siltation that threatens to wipe away a large island settlement on the river Brahmaputra in Assam. A concrete wall is being constructed to check the rapid flow of water that has been causing incessant erosion reducing the island to half of its size.
