Widows of Vrindavan embrace spirit of Holi
Over a thousand widows from the ashrams in Vrindavan and Varanasi began a special four-day Holi celebrations in Vrindavan on Tuesday. At least 1,000 kilograms of 'gulal' in different colours and 1,500 kilograms of rose and merry gold petals have been arranged for the Holi programme.In this Meera Sahabhagini Widows Ashram, these widows gathered to experience what they are not supposed to: Joy. Organized by an Indian aid agency, Sulabh International, the gathering was a way to let the women celebrate their lives, and to show that losing a husband doesn't mean losing one's life.
