‘Can’t be singing bhajans on stage’: Adityanath on ‘Babur ki aulad’ row

Updated on May 03, 2019 05:31 pm IST

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, rhetorically asked if campaigners step up on stage to sing 'bhajan' or devotional songs, during elections. He was reacting to the controversy surrounding a comment he had made regarding a candidate of the Samajwadi Party. Adityanath, while addressing a rally, had said that SP's Shafiqur Rahman Barq had referred to himself as 'Babur ki aulad'. The Election Commission has sent a show cause notice to the UP CM over the remark.
