2022 elections: As UP, Punjab see virus stat increase, polls under threat?

The centre has sounded alarm over the rise in infection in rate in several states including poll-bound Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Union Health Ministry has said that the covid reproduction number is on increase in states like Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh which is a cause of concern. The health ministry has asked states to exercise caution and take containment measures to prevent the widespread transmission of the covid infection. As Punjab and Uttar Pradesh are set to go for polls next year, there are apprehensions that the poll rallies could become super-spreader events.
