China adopts new border law: How it affects India amid border standoff

- China passes new border law firming up military-civilian roles in defending borders. The new law focuses on strengthening border areas in China. The national law was passed on October 23, 2021 by National People’s Congress (NPC). China shares its 22,000-km land border with 14 countries including India. The new law will govern how China will guard the border areas. The new border law will come into effect from January 1, next year. India & China have been engaged in a border standoff for 17 months now.
