Gold-medalist rocket scientist S Somnath to be new ISRO chief, replacing K Sivan

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has appointed eminent rocket scientist S Somnath as the new chairperson. S Somnath will be the 10th chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation. On Wednesday, a personnel ministry order was issued announcing Somnath's appointment. Expressing happiness over his appointment, he said we need to bring in newer approaches. K Sivan, the outgoing chairperson, will be completing his extended term on friday. Sivan was appointed as the ISRO chief in January 2018 and was given a one-year extension.
