India records highest-ever defence exports at ₹13,000 crore; US biggest importer

• India breaks all its defence export records. According to the Defence Ministry, India’s defence exports touched a record ₹13,000 crore in the 2021-2022 fiscal. 70% contribution to the record exports came from the private sector while the public sector accounted for the remaining 30%. Earlier the private sector used to account for 90% and now the share of DPSUs has gone up. The exports in 2021-22 were almost eight times of what they were about five years back.
