Indigo announces salary change as mass sick leaves hamper airline operations

Published on Jul 12, 2022 05:42 pm IST

  • Amid reports of employees being miffed, IndiGo announces that it will "rationalize" the salaries of its aircraft maintenance technicians and remove "anomalies caused by the pandemic". In an internal communication accessed by the PTI, this rationalization will be issued to employees over the next two weeks and will be with effect from August 1, 2022. The move comes after a sizable number of the airline's aircraft maintenance technicians went on sick leave on July 9 & 10 in Hyderabad and Delhi to protest against their salaries. This comes after 55% of IndiGo's domestic flights were delayed on July 2 as a significant number of its cabin crew members took mass sick leaves. Reports suggested that the cabin crew staff went for an Air India recruitment drive. Watch this report to know more.
