Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over alleged police brutality during the July 20 protests linked to exam paper leaks and student suicides. Gandhi also called for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Home Minister Amit Shah. The Congress leader's remarks came after Opposition parties staged a sit-in outside PM Modi's residence on July 21, alleging that the government was unwilling to allow a parliamentary debate on the police action against protesting students and youth. The protesters were later detained by Delhi Police. A video recorded during Gandhi's detention at Chhatrasal Stadium showed him wearing only one shoe, with his other foot bare, in visuals that emerged after the protests.
