- Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stepped up attack on the Modi government over farmer deaths. The Congress leader moved adjournment motion in Lok Sabha seeking compensation for deceased farmers. "Around 700 farmers died in farmers' agitation. PM Modi apologised and accepted that he made a mistake. Agriculture minister said he did not have data on how many farmers died in the agitation. The Punjab government has given ₹5 lakh compensation for around 400 farmers. We have made another list of 70 farmers from Haryana," he said. Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar had earlier said that the government has no record of farmers who died during the protests. PM Modi repealed the three farm laws on November 20 after more than a year of farmers’ protests. Repealing the 3 farm laws, the PM had appealed to the protesting farmers to return home.
