Rijiju flags backlog of 5 cr cases in India; CJI blames judicial vacancies

- Chief Justice N.V. Ramana said judicial vacancies and lack of infrastructure were responsible for India’s backlog of cases. Chief Justice Ramana’s statement came in response to a comment made by Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju, who said that 'the pendency of cases' was a major problem in India.
