- West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee protested against the fuel price hike in a unique style. On Thursday, Banerjee commuted to and from state secretariat Nabanna on an electric scooter. On the way to Nabanna in the morning, the CM was seen riding pillion on a battery-powered e-scooter. While in the afternoon, Banerjee took the driver's seat on the way to her residence in Kalighat. While Banerjee rode the scooter at a slow speed, some security personnel followed her on foot. "Today, we silently protested against the hike in petrol, diesel and LPG prices. I rode a pillion on an electric scooter on my way to the Secretariat. The battery-powered electric scooter was driven by minister Firhad (Bobby) Hakim. While returning, I myself rode the e-scooter. Even though this was my first attempt, riding the e-scooter seemed easy. I will ride it again and become an efficient rider. I thank each and everyone for their support," Banerjee said. The TMC supremo is not missing any opportunity to score over her main rival BJP. Elections to the 294-member West Bengal assembly are due in April-May this year.
