- The United States of America has responded on the farmers’ agitations in India. ‘In general, the United States welcomes steps that would improve the efficiency of India's markets and attract greater private sector investment. We recognise that peaceful protests are a hallmark of any thriving democracy and note that the Indian Supreme Court has stated the same,’ a US State Department spokesperson said. This comes after the Indian government released a comprehensive statement to counter some tweets by global celebrities. Farmers in India have been protesting against the three laws passed by the Modi government. The farmers insist that the laws will be detrimental to farmers and benefit corporate. Several rounds of talks have also been held between the government and the farmer unions but no breakthrough has been reached. Watch the full video for all the details.
