Amar Jawan Jyoti at the India Gate will be merged with the National War Memorial flame today. The eternal flame, which has been burning at the India Gate for 50 years, will be put out and merged. The ceremony will be presided over by Air Marshal Balabadra Radha Krishna & Chief of Integrated Defence Staff. Opposition leaders have slammed the government over the decision to extinguish the ‘eternal flame’. Cong leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted saying ‘some people can’t understand patriotism’.
