Indian Air Force has promoted Balakot hero Wing Commander Abhinandan to the rank of Group Captain which is equivalent to the rank of a Colonel. Abhinandan shot to prominence after downing a Pakistani F-16 fighter aircraft on February 27 during aerial dogfight above Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. However he was taken captive by Pakistan army after his fighter aircraft was hit by the Pakistan Air Force in PoK. Following India's pressure and international intervention, Abhinandan was released by Pakistan and he was given a hero's welcome on his return. Watch this report for more.
