UAE intercepts Houthi attack; Destroys 2 missiles fired by Yemen Rebels

- The United Arab Emirates has intercepted another attack by a Yemeni rebel group - the Houthis. The UAE destroyed two Houthi ballistic missiles targeting the Gulf country with no casualties. UAE's Ministry of Defence in a statement later claimed that it was ready for any attack. It later described the interception as an F-16 warplane destroying a Houthi missile launcher in Yemen's Al-Jawf at 1.10 AM GMT, which the group had used in the operation. The attack comes just a week after a strike that hit a fuel depot in Abu Dhabi, killing three, and leading to a fire near its international airport. This is a second such attack on UAE soil since last week. The UAE earlier had also banned drones in the country for recreation after Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed the fatal drone attack last week. The Houthis, who control Yemen's capital and have been at odds with a Saudi-led military coalition that includes the UAE for years, claimed responsibility for the attack. While the UAE has mostly withdrawn its forces from the stalemated fight, it remains a major presence on the ground and continues to assist local militias.
