Anti-China protest outside Canada PM's office over Uyghur 'genocide' in Xinjiang

  • Over 200 people in Canada joined a rally outside PM Justin Trudeau's office in Ottawa. Protesters called the Canadian govt to take action to stop Uyghur genocide in China. The protest was organised on Sunday & was joined by women as well as children. Protest was also against 33 Canadian senators' decision to not recognise Uyghur genocide. 33 Canadian Senators voted against a bill brought forward by Senator Leo Housakos. The bill had called on the Senate to recognise Uyghur genocide in China. “We are here to tell them what they are doing is unacceptable as Canadians. They have to remember that Canada not just has a moral obligation. Canada also has legal obligation to stand up & stop ongoing genocide,” a protester said. Meanwhile, an Uyghur Muslim completed his 15 days march to Canada's Ottawa. Bilal Malik reached the PM's office to deliver a joint letter signed by various organisations. They urged Canadian government & Olympic committee to boycott the Beijing 2022 Olympics.
