Watch | WHO doctor says Zika vaccine likely ‘years away’
This WHO expert dismisses earlier reports and says that a vaccine for the Zika virus “may be years not months away.” Dr Antony Costello, Director of Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health at WHO said “it depends upon the biology of the virus.” He pointed to the fact that research into an anti-dengue vaccine had been ongoing for 15 years, and he dampened hopes of a quick vaccine solution, saying the WHO is trying to control the spread of the mosquitoes that transmit the virus, instead.
