Top officials from Nepal and Indian on Tuesday agreed to clear bottlenecks in India-funded projects in Nepal.
The decision was taken at the first meeting of an oversight panel on the project. Foreign Secretary of Nepal Shankar Das Bairagi and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae led their respective teams at the meeting, which also discussed ways to expedite the projects worth billions of dollars.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, seven big infrastructure were discussed in the first meeting where relevant stakeholders from various projects were also present.
Cross-border railway connectivity, construction of the integrated check posts in four key Nepal- India trading points, the 900-MW Upper Karnali hydroelectricity project being developed by GMR and Arun III project developed by Sutluj Vidyut Nigam were discussed.
The progress made in Pancheshowor Multipurpose Project that has an installed capacity of 4.800 MW, bridge in Mahakali River, and the construction of Hulaki Road ( Postal Road) in southern plains were also discussed.
Utilisation of the $1-billion aid announced by India for reconstruction will be discussed.

During the visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to India in September, the two sides had agreed to form the overseeing mechanism that would meet at least once a month with project chiefs, officials, contractors and stakeholders to resolve any issues hampering the projects.
