Nasa’s Perseverance rover has completed 100 Martian days since its landing on the Red Planet on February 18. The rover has relayed hundreds of high-definition images to Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in South California so far as the Mars mission is still going strong. The US space agency recently announced that Perseverance is now beginning to ramp up its science mission on Mars while preparing to collect samples that will be returned to Earth on a future mission. The Perseverance rover will be used to explore the rocks of Jezero Crater, identified by Nasa scientists as an ancient lakebed formed billions of years ago. Perseverance rover’s job is to gather special rocks, known to preserve signs of life over time, that could be returned to Earth by a future Nasa mission.
