Two people were injured and one suspect was taken into custody after a shooting at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, Michigan, on Saturday.
In a statement, the sheriff's office said, “Preliminary information indicates two individuals sustained injuries. One suspect is in custody.”
Authorities said there is no ongoing danger to the public as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. “Please avoid the area to allow emergency personnel and investigators to safely conduct their investigation,” the Sheriff's Office said.

Heavy police presence at Great Lakes Crossing
Following the shooting, multiple law enforcement and emergency response agencies converged on the shopping centre. Television footage from the scene showed yellow crime scene tape surrounding portions of the mall's exterior while investigators processed evidence.
Authorities urged shoppers and motorists to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to work safely. The Auburn Hills Police Department is leading the investigation, while the Oakland County Sheriff's Office is assisting.
Officials have not yet released information about what led to the shooting, whether the suspect knew the victims or where exactly inside or outside the property the incident occurred.

One of Michigan's largest shopping destinations
Great Lakes Crossing Outlets is among Michigan's largest retail and entertainment destinations. Located along Baldwin Road in Auburn Hills, the outlet centre features around 170 stores, restaurants and attractions.
Saturday's incident temporarily disrupted activity at the shopping centre as police secured parts of the property. Authorities have not indicated whether the shooting was random or targeted, and investigators continue working to establish the sequence of events.
An X user present on the scene shared pictures on social media and wrote, “Active sh**ter situation at Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall in Michigan. I don’t have any details other than having to exit through emergency exit at Bass Pro Shop and then walk to our car.”
The user on X wrote, “A woman was brought out on a stretcher and taken away by ambulance. It’s unclear from my perspective if she was hurt by a shooter or hurt in the ensuing panic.”
