Write a book, take the kids to school or cook dinner. Or, pass on the baton to Samantha, his childhood sweetheart and wife of 20 years.

Former British prime minister David Cameron listed his future in a lighter vein at the 14th Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on Saturday, responding to a question on what’s next for the suave and articulate 50-year-old politician.

“Umm, well, I am writing a book on my time in politics…” he said, and underscored interests where he would like to put his efforts in, such as promoting research on dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Cameron, who resigned after losing his big Brexit gamble this summer, was “in a bit of a shock” when he arrived in India for the annual HT conclave.

The front pages of newspapers used to carry “something on Cameron fighting for this or fighting for that” when he visited India as the British premier. But this time around, the paper in his hotel room didn’t have him.

“There was a Cameron on the front page but that was my wife on the launch of her fashion label … I will be doing a lot more like taking the kids to school and cooking dinner and it’s time to pass on the baton to her,” he joked.

A regular at London Fashion Week, she designed a 40-piece collection that will be sold from early 2017.

The brand name is derived from the names of the power couple’s children — Elwen, Florence, Ivan and Nancy.
