ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani man, who was attacked with acid by a woman for allegedly spurning her, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital in Punjab province, officials said on Wednesday. The family of Sadaqat Ali, 25, insists the attack occurred after he tried to stop the woman from pursuing him. Police said Ali died of excessive burns on his face and upper torso in Nishtar Hospital in Multan on Tuesday night. It is believed Ali had been in a relationship with 36-year-old Shamim, a married woman who lived in Makhdoom Rasheed area. Ali was also slated to marry a cousin, who he had been betrothed to for several years, after Eid.
