An express bus overturned on Monday on Malaysia's main highway, killing 19 passengers in one of the worst traffic accidents in the country's history, the national news agency Bernama reported.

It said seven other passengers were seriously injured in the accident on the North-South Expressway, which occurred before dawn as the bus was traveling from Johor Baru in Malaysia's southern tip to Alor Star in the far north. The accident took place near Bukit Gantang in the northern Perak state, it said.
