5.6 magnitude quake hits southern Iran - USGS

An earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit 170 km (106 miles) south of the Iranian city of Shiraz on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

An earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit 170 km (106 miles) south of the Iranian city of Shiraz on Friday, the US Geological Survey reported.

The quake near the Gulf coast was 10.1 km (6.3 miles) deep, it added, according to preliminary data. It was also centred 193 km (120 miles) east-southeast of Bushehr, the USGS said.
