6.1-magnitude quake hits off Japan

An undersea quake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale on Friday struck the sea off the east coast of Japan's largest island of Honshu, Xinhua reported.

An undersea quake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale on Friday struck the sea off the east coast of Japan's largest island of Honshu, Xinhua reported.

The quake struck at 8.05am, the China Earthquake Networks Centre said. The epicentre was at 37.3 degrees north latitude and 143.9 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 20 km.
