Nearly 8,000 people were killed in violent incidents, including terrorist attacks, military operations and sectarian clashes, in Pakistan during the past year, said a report issued on Monday by a think tank.
A total of 7,997 were killed and 9,670 others injured in terrorists attacks, clashes between security forces and militants, military operations, political violence, inter-tribe sectarian clashes and border clashes, the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies said.
The highest number of violent incidents was recorded in the restive North West Frontier Province (1,009), Balochistan (682) and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (385), the think tank said in its annual security report.
There were also 35 violent incidents in Punjab province, 25 in Sindh, seven in Islamabad and four in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Attacks claimed the lives of 3,182 people while 655 people died in clashes between security forces and militants. A total of 1,336 people were killed in inter-tribe sectarian clashes while 395 people were killed in border clashes.
There were over 95 clashes between security forces and militants and 88 incidents of political violence. There were also 191 incidents of inter-tribe sectarian clashes and 55 incidents of border clashes during the past year, the report said.

{{/usCountry}}At least 2,148 terrorist attacks were reported during the year, including 63 suicide attacks that killed at least 967 people and injured 2,108 others. NWFP witnessed 32 suicide attacks while Punjab registered 10 such attacks. Sixteen suicide attacks were reported in the tribal areas, the report said.
