8 killed, 3 hurt in building collapse
Eight people were killed and three others injured when a four-story residential building collapsed in China's northwest Shaanxi Province, authorities said today.

Eight people were killed and three others injured when a four-story residential building collapsed in China's northwest Shaanxi Province, authorities said on Sunday.
The three injured, including the under construction building's owner Cao Minchang, were sent to hospital for treatment, said Mi Weixin, deputy secretary general of the Xi'an municipal government.
Three hundred rescue workers were deployed to help those caught in the rubble.
The construction of the residential building was almost completed when it collapsed yesterday. Neighbouring residents have been evacuated for safety concern.
Initial investigation showed that substandard materials might be reason for the collapse, Xinhua news agency quoted local officials as saying.
