The 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for Malala Yousafzai has been officially welcomed in Pakistan but there is one Pakistani Nobel laureate the country continues to ignore: Abdus Salam, an Ahmadiya Muslim who won the Physics prize in 1979.

“My father’s name doesn’t appear in history or science books. He has one small hall in Government College, Lahore, named after him,” said Ahmad Salam, son of Abdus Salam.

Ahmadiyas reportedly face persecution in Pakistan, where the constitution was amended to declare them non-Muslims.
