At least 4 dead as private planes collide in California

The planes collide about a mile from the small Corona Municipal airport and debris rain down on car dealerships below in Riverside County about 45 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

At least four people have died after two private planes collided in midair on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The planes collided at 3:35 pm about a mile from the small Corona Municipal airport and debris rained down on car dealerships below in Riverside County about 45 miles southeast of Los Angeles, said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

It was not immediately clear whether the dead were from the planes or on the ground.
