UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned Saturday the series of bomb attacks in Indian cities over the past weeks that killed a number of civilians.

A bomb killed a 13-year-old boy and injured other people in a market in New Delhi Saturday.

"The secretary general strongly condemns these reprehensible acts that have caused the death and injury of many civilians and calls for the perpetrators to be brought to justice," he said in a statement.

"The secretary general reiterates his consistent position that no cause or grievance can justify the resort to terrorism," the statement said. Ban presented his sympathies to the families of those killed and injured as well as to the government and people of India.
