Assassinated Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto's party will take part in a January 8 general election, as she would have wanted, her husband and new co-chairman of her party, Asif Ali Zardari, said on Sunday.

"Despite this dangerous situation, we will go for elections, according to her will and thinking," Zardari told a news conference at the Bhutto family home in Naudero in the south of the country.
