The blast occurred at about 8:03 am local time in a "waste explosive" warehouse on the sixth floor of the building housing the Public Security Bureau of Qingtian County in Zhejiang province, local police said.

Some window glasses of the building were also shattered due to the explosion, state-run Xinhua news agency reported, quoting witnesses.

An initial probe showed that the blast was caused due to self-ignition of the waste explosives confiscated earlier by police.
