Bus crash kills 11, injures nearly 30 in Brazil

Authorities say a bus carrying people back from a sports festival for special needs athletes fell from a bridge into a river in southeastern Brazil, killing 11 and injuring nearly 30.

Authorities say a bus carrying people back from a sports festival for special needs athletes fell from a bridge into a river in southeastern Brazil, killing 11 and injuring nearly 30.

Police say the bus driver apparently had brake problems and lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid another bus on a bridge near the small city of Carbonita on Sunday.

A statement from the Minas Gerais state police says the bus was carrying disabled people attending a sporting events in the region.

It was unclear if disabled people were among the dead.
