Bus crashes in Bangladesh, killing 13

A local news agency is reporting that a speeding bus has hit a tree and crashed into a canal in Bangladesh, killing at least 13 people and injuring 10.

A local news agency is reporting that a speeding bus has hit a tree and crashed into a canal in Bangladesh, killing at least 13 people and injuring 10.

United News of Bangladesh says the accident occurred on Friday in Feni, a town 80 miles (130 kilometers) east of Dhaka. The report says that the injured have been taken to hospital. It provided no further details.

Government officials were not immediately available for comments. Fatal road accidents, blamed on faulty vehicles and rash driving, claim at least 4,500 lives a year in Bangladesh, according to a government estimate.
